Ruby Bingo Glossary

Every term you'll hear the caller use, in plain English.

Live bingo has its own language. Here's all of it, so nothing said on stream leaves you guessing.

On your card

Daub — to mark a number off your card. Ours daub automatically as balls drop, but you can tap to mark them yourself too.

Pattern — the shape you need to complete to get bingo. It changes every game.

Pattern assist — greys out the squares that aren't part of tonight's pattern, so you only look at what matters.

Wild — a rule applied before the game starts that marks a whole set of numbers off your card for free.

Blackout / Cover-all — every square on the card. The biggest pattern, and the biggest prizes.

Crazy — when it's in front of a pattern name, it means rotation counts. A Crazy T is a T in any direction.

1TG / 2TG — "one to go" and "two to go". You'll see these in chat constantly. It means somebody is one or two numbers away from bingo.

Best card — the card of yours closest to winning. It's moved to the top of your screen automatically.

During the game

The caller — the host calling the numbers. Sunday through Thursday, a different one each night.

Heartbeat — the sound our producer hears when someone claims bingo. It's the cue to pause the draw.

Card check — your card going up on screen so the caller can verify the win in front of everyone.

Emeralds Closed / Gold Coins Closed — the prize in that currency has been won. The game continues until the other one is won too.

Spot prize — an extra reward handed out between games, drawn from social media engagement. Present-to-win.

Present-to-win — you have to be in the session and press the button to claim. Applies to free cards.

The horse races

Bino — bingo styled as a horse race. The name goes back to when bingo halls couldn't legally use the word "bingo" for it.

Downline — the five numbers belonging to a horse. Horse 1 owns 1, 16, 31, 46 and 61. Every time one of its numbers is called, that horse moves forward.

Board Open — the caller's signal that horses can be taken. Grab yours quickly; the board fills fast.

Pull tab — a digital version of the cardboard tabs sold in bingo halls. Open one to find out whether you've got a horse, a hold ball, or nothing.

Hold ball — a bingo number from a pull tab. If yours is the last ball called when a horse finishes, you win.

The floor — the pull tabs currently available in a session.

Your account

Gold Coins — the social currency. Play for fun, never redeemable.

Emeralds — the sweepstakes currency. Play for real prizes, redeemable at 1 Emerald to 1 US dollar.

Complimentary Emeralds — Emeralds given to you. Play through them first; what you win becomes Won Emeralds.

Won Emeralds — Emeralds you've won. These are the redeemable ones. You need 50 to redeem.

Redemption verified — the ID check required before you can redeem.
